Information on your device

Your reading positions, colored book darts, checkpoint dates, daily plans, lesson completion, and cached source passages are stored locally. Appearance, text size, and guide position are also saved on your device. Holy Coders does not receive your reading history or search queries.

This data stays until you delete the app or its data. Apple device backups may include app data, depending on your settings. We do not operate a sync or backup service.

When you open a citation that is not cached, or retry loading one, the app requests that reference directly from Sefaria over HTTPS. Sefaria receives the requested reference, your IP address, and ordinary network information needed to serve it. No book darts, daily plans, or checkpoint history are included. The source connection does not store or send cookies or account credentials. Retrieved text is cached locally.

Sefaria is an independent service and handles requests under its own privacy policy. Its retention practices are outside our control. The bundled library and its search work without making these requests.

App Store privacy label

The label discloses product interaction and diagnostic data for app functionality to account for requested source references and related connection information received by Sefaria. Because a request includes an IP address, we conservatively classify this information as linked to you. This is not a reading-history sync service, and the app does not use it for advertising or tracking.

Links, this website, and support

External links open the relevant website, whose privacy policy applies. This support website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes ordinary connection information to deliver and protect the site. We do not add analytics, advertising cookies, or visitor tracking.

If you email support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send. We use this information to respond, investigate the issue, and maintain support correspondence. We do not sell it or use it for advertising. Contact us to request deletion of support correspondence, subject to any legal retention obligations.

Apple diagnostics

If you choose to share diagnostics with Apple and developers through your device settings, Apple may provide crash reports and aggregate app information. We use any such reports only to improve reliability. The app does not include a separate crash-reporting service.

Children and privacy

The same privacy practices apply to everyone. The app does not ask for a name, age, contact list, location, camera, microphone, or other personal profile information.
